A smoldering cable on the Green Line this morning forced the evacuation of hundreds of commuters.
The evacuation pushed hundreds of commuters above ground into freezing temperatures.
The passengers were escorted above ground from Kenmore Square to Government Center stops.
Commuters waited in link for shuttle buses to take them to their destinations.
Service on that stretch of the Green Line was down from approximately 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
