Lexington athletic chief gets unpaid leave

Lexington’s athletic director was placed on unpaid leave for a week starting Thursday, after she admitted to fabricating information in an e-mail to other athletic directors in the Middlesex League.

Naomi Martin  sent e-mail Nov. 15 to athletic directors in 11 other local districts, including Arlington, Belmont, Reading, Watertown, and Woburn, saying that the league was not in compliance with Title IX, which promotes gender equity in school sports.

"her reputation has been ruined with parents thinking she threatened to sue the schools."  That's a laugh.  Threatening to sue the schools is common for the alpha parents in Lexington - hardly anything to be ashamed about.  As for the "spokesman" for the schools, she's a paid flack retained after one too many PR miscues by the superintendent.  And loved his letter to the AD's, where he referred to it as the "womens" basketball team.  What, is the word "girl" no longer PC?

Parents, players and coaches have the right to expect honesty and integrity from athletic directors. It appears that this AD has failed on both counts.
