Scott Brown will not run for US Senate

Scott Brown, who surprised the political world with his upset victory in the 2010 special election, announced Friday afternoon that he will not enter the special election to replace John F. Kerry.

“I was not at all certain that a third Senate campaign in less than four years, and the prospect of returning to a Congress even more partisan than the one I left, was really the best way for me to continue in public service at this time,” Brown said in a statement. “And I know it’s not the only way for me to advance the ideals and causes that matter most to me.”

His decision makes sense for him -- though timing was odd.  Republicans do have good people to run, but it's late: Richard Tisei, who already has some statewide name recognition, should be on the list. Question is, does the majority of the Massachusetts electorate WANT a good senator?  BTW, while Sen. Brown had a 60% rating with the National Taxpayers Union, Congressmen Markey has 15%, Congressman Lynch has 12%.  Not much choice for taxpayers there.

 

 

If he wants to run, then why not just run the Boston Marathon and let it go at that.   ;=)>

The reality is that no moderate can get elected from Massachusetts so why buck the trend. It's better to wait  until
