The city of Providence is accepting proposals for a performing arts initiative that grants funding to community groups to help stage live performances during the summer. The Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative distributes funds to nonprofit community organizations for theater, dance, music, or other live arts programs in neighborhoods and other public spaces. The initiative is run by the Providence Department of Art, Culture, and Tourism. The awards range from $500 to $4,000. Organizations must be located in the city to be eligible. An information session is scheduled for Feb. 12. The deadline to apply is Feb. 28.
