Markey throws hat into Senate race

MALDEN — Standing before supporters in a packed gymnasium, Representative Edward J. Markey formally launched his run for the US Senate, talking about his long-held environmental goals and gun control advocacy, but not about Scott Brown, the Republican former Senator who could have been Markey’s most formidable opponent.

Markey, a Democrat from Malden, announced his plans making no mention of Brown, who announced Friday he would not run in the special Senate race.

The biggest phony in politics, yet the sheep of MA will vote for him. MAy I suggest you read his Cap and Trade proposal. Perhaps his only "accomplishment" yet, if passed, we'd be paying $400/month for electricity and $8/gallon of gas, so he, Al Gore, Franklin Raines, etal, can get rich trading carbon credits.

Also, please consider how this man went to Washington 36 years, a few years out of BC, and is now a multi-millionaire. A republican would surely be questioned for achieving such wealth merelty as a congressman, but a Democrast's wealth is never an issue.

I hope the voters in MA wake up someday!!!!

My sentiments exactly.  Markey is the emptiest of empty suits.

Ed Markey has been counting on your tax dollars to pay him and, according to rgspex, make him a millionaire, for the last 37 years.  If he spends as much time in the Senate, he'll be 103 years old when he finally gets weaned from the public teat.  And you can bet that, when he runs for re-election at age 97, the voters of Massachusetts will be on board.

What Markey should be doing is retiring.

Term limits would solve so many problems.

I still don't understand the logic of giving up 36 years of seniority and real power in the House just to become a very junior Senator. Something is very suspect.
