Man drives car through window of Starbucks

A man drove his car through the window of a Reading Starbucks Sunday morning, police said. About 9:20 a.m., the motorist hit the gas pedal instead of the brake while parking at the Walker Brook Drive shop, said police Lieutenant Richard Robbins. No one was hurt. Reading Fire Department Captain Phil Boisvert said the car crashed through the shop’s plate-glass window, crossed a seating area, and hit the counter, pushing it two feet. A Starbucks employee who was present said the counter was pushed into the drink pick-up area. None of the employees were in the area, nor were either of the shop’s two customers. The driver, whose name was not released, was charged with operating to endanger, Robbins said.
