Boston survey checking storm readiness

The City of Boston will ask property owners in low-lying areas to complete a survey to determine how prepared they are for the next big storm. The questionnaire will inquire about flooding potential, preparations for storm surge, and whether office towers in the Seaport District have emergency plans if Boston Harbor swamps the streets. The surveys were among several initiatives Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced Tuesday in what he said was an effort to prepare for rising sea levels and other potential effects of climate change.
