With a powerful blizzard expected to blanket Massachusetts with up to 3 feet of snow, Governor Deval Patrick ordered non-emergency state workers to stay home, urged people to get off the roads by noon Friday before the storm intensifies, called for all local school districts to cancel classes, and announced that the Boston area’s public transit system would shut down.
The nor’easter arriving Friday morning could drop 2 to 3 feet of snow that would be lashed by winds gusting up to 65 miles per hour into drifts as deep as 5 feet, the National Weather Service said this afternoon.

After having pulled off an emergency trip to Baltimore through Hurricane Sandy, my Jeep is rarin' to go. Me, not so much. Better stock up on Guinness and Bushmill's.

Wonder how the bread and mile is holding up. Also wonder why thereis a run on these two products before any predicted storm. Is milk a real staple? I can certainly attest to seeing empty bread shelves a day before a predicted storm.
I would think a run on snackfood would make more sense.
Sandwiches! Decent survival food if you lose power and can't cook. Peanut butter and Jelly don't even require refrigeration. Store sandwich meat in a plastic bag outdoors so you won't need to open the refrigerator.
Milk is a staple for families with children, of course.
Beer is a staple, burp ...
Ok, did anybody else see the Govs new Sec of Public Safetu fanning herself during his press conference. Once again a total disgrace of an appointment by the lame duck Gov. There was no high ranking Trooper or Boston cop that could take that job? Hey Dems you deserve what you get, watch the video, disgusting.
Since I moved to Boston 30 years ago, I can't remember the entire MBTA being shut down ever, until 3 times in the past year and a half.
What's the problem? Is the weather that much worse lately? I thought it was better.
Or maybe the T is now run by weak-kneed incompetents, especially Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey, whose never had to do any real work or do without a limo for any of his adult life. If you've never used the T, how can you possibly know how important it is to a large segment of the population.
Global warming....er.....cooling
Did anyone understand what the Mayor said? I have got to get the Rosetta Stone for the Mummbles Language. I don't speak it, but I thought I understood it initially. Some 20 years later, I don't.
