Snowstorm may bring 30 inches as anticipation builds in Mass.

Big snows, and big buildup, come with the territory

The nor’easter forecast to slam the state Friday is creating a perfect storm of expectations, fueled by increasingly dire weather reports, a flurry of tweets relying on the reams of raw data available online, and the yearning of at least some in the populace for the first major snowfall in the Boston area in two years.

Snow is an annual rite of passage we were denied, or escaped, last winter. The approach of the storm — whether you view it as a potentially dangerous nuisance, an excuse to skip school or work, or a badge of New England courage — is generating a frenzy of pent-up exhilaration.

The snow will come and go and in the end not harm our environment and automobiles the way that the tons of salt that are injudiciously strewn over our roads will.

I'm stunned at the amount of salt that the towns have been using lately.  There are still long rows & chunks of it visible from the last storm.  I'm also curious why they don't appear to be mixing it with sand lately.

That is an unbelievably massive pile of salt

This guy Epstein - along with his brother (and sister) weather progistetators, especially on the bube tube - don't live on the coast. That is easy to tell.   They are, certainly, doing some good with alerts to what might be, but theya re also doing their best to stimulate fear and uncountable purchases by panicked residents.  There is little or no question that part of the meteorological "pent-up exhileration" is the power they know they exert over the masses.  Just thik of the nincompoops these weather prestigitators will cause to walk out on the jetties that point towards the incoming waves driven by nor'east winds.  It sure would be nice to see one of these tv bumpkins forecast in a level-headed, un-exhilerated persona.  Don Kent used to... as did Dickie. It was Channel 4's Schwoegler that turned loose the  burbling blusterers and their weather girl sisters.

Yeah, my favorite is the aspiring-Patriots-cheerleader-but-I'll-settle-for-TV-news 'person' standing in the falling snow with a mic shouting "I'm standing here at ____ and as you can see, it's snowing". Breathtaking

Stay safe everyone and enjoy!
