Charges against Occupy Boston protesters dropped

Suffolk County prosecutors dropped Friday the case against more than two dozen protesters arrested during the Occupy Boston demonstrations, but at least five defendants will contest the dismissal in hope of fighting the accusations on their merits.

“Our clients feel that they deserve a day in court to contest their arrests on constitutional grounds,” said Jeff Feuer of the National Lawyers Guild, which is defending the demonstrators. “They were using a public park.”

Once they were ordered to leave by the police, at the request of the conservancy, they must leave. They didn't. Trespassing, all day long.

It is very important to not give in to these layabouts and do nothings.

They were "adult enough" to occupy (and defile) public land.  They should be "adult enough" to be punished were they broke the law.

"Layabouts" and "do nothings" eh? When was the last time you stood up and risked yourself for a principle?

This piece was very shoddily researched.  Please follow up on the reporter's bungling and publish the facts.

Good for the Occupy-ers, I hope they win!

Sure. Drop the charges and stick the taxpayers with the bill. Why not? Of course the poor and the "middle class" will also be paying too. Globe hopes you won't notice.

This case is moot, they have no grounds to contest the dismissal because they are not injured by it.  Of course, the defendants likely do not have jobs like the rest of us so can take the time on a weekday to gum up the court system.
