In Marblehead, marveling at the fury, majesty

MARBLEHEAD — It could be heard well before it was seen or felt in this normally placid seaside town.

Like countless others living along the New England coastline, Marblehead residents awoke to the roar of crashing surf outside their windows, a not unfamiliar sound with a nor’easter approaching. Still, the winds remained calm and the skies snowless as people moved about the downtown, taking care of last-minute errands.

The Barnacle...what a hole...Serving Marblehead drunks since the days of the pepper trade. Anyone notice the baby at the bar with the mommy drinking? Anyone realize that it's illegal to do that?

Well...it is called marble-head...

Even in the midst of a historic storm, some only have capacity to share their whine.  As for me, I think I will go out and shovel something real vs. the BS being served in the comments...

Nice piece. Just a factual correction: The no-name storm was in October 1991, not 1990.

The epic No Name storm was in October 1991, not 1990.
