Pummeled by one of the worst winter storms in state history, much of Massachusetts spent Saturday digging out, waiting for power, and navigating a snow-shrouded landscape that proved both pristinely beautiful and savagely cruel.
Two people died and two were injured in Boston because of carbon-monoxide poisoning linked to the storm, which dumped up to 30 inches of snow on the state. Hundreds of coastal residents were evacuated from the North Shore to Cape Cod, and more than 400,000 people in Massachusetts awoke without power Saturday.

Why are we all so passive about how bad the MBTA is doing, how overcautious Gov. Patrick was in declaring an travel ban too early and in too broad an area, how we didn't get mail on Saturday, how newspapers were not delivered and how we are grossly overpaying for all fo these poor services through a high tax burden?
Why is everyone in Massachusetts so willling to vote Democrat, overpay, and get bad services? Maybe time to start packing for Texas.
Maybe time for YOU to start packing for Texas.

The travel ban was a total success and let me tell you why. I am very familiar with brutal winter storms and they always produce the same tragic news video of people stranded in vehicles that are not equipped for snow travel. Guess who rescues these folks? For any of you "armchair quarterbacks" to sit back and second guess our governor is shameful. The MBTA is another matter. It is not a railroad and it needs more funding to allow it to survive storms like this. Think of how much money the Union Pacific invests in snow removal each year. Their trains hardly ever stop. So, here we go with the Cri tics Corner as we mourn the loss of lives in a storm that could have taken a greater toll. My son's boss only allowed him to come home on Thursday because of the travel ban. Otherwise, his boss said the storm "won't amount to much." People can be stupid during a storm. My son still slid off of the road because he worked too late and hit ice on the way home In his 4X4.
@CrankyMass: I'm with you. Actually, some credit is due to our fellow Bostonians for actually LISTENING to the Mayor and Governor. Folks in New Jersey DIDN'T listen to their officials before Sandy hit. Look at THAT disaster! All being told, while the deaths were bad, our City did well. Employees and Citzens. Hope your Son is okay!

This is the best snow storm that I've seen in a long time. It looks beautiful.
