Leicester woman gets 3 years in thefts

A Leicester woman who stole more than $300,000 from two companies where she worked has been sentenced to up to three years in prison and ordered to pay full restitution. Kimberly Powell, 42, was sentenced last week after pleading guilty in January to two counts each of larceny of more than $250 and credit card fraud of more than $250 and a single count of falsifying corporate books. The Telegram & Gazette reported that prosecutors said Powell stole nearly $262,000 while working as an independent payroll and tax preparer for New England Industrial Engineering Inc. in 2006 and 2007 and about $54,000 in 2010 and 2011 while working as a part-time bookkeeper at Westerman Store Equipment Inc.
