Boston parking ban lifted, schools set to reopen

Boston finally lurched toward normalcy Tuesday after a debilitating blizzard, ending a 102-hour-long parking ban on major streets and announcing that public schools would reopen for the first time since the storm struck.

Near springlike temperatures began melting snow mountains into lakes of slush. Waterlogged and unshoveled sidewalks forced scores of pedestrians into plowed streets, where they walked on black asphalt with briefcases and grocery sacks, slowing traffic.

How come the Mumbles favorite city DPW director is not featured in this glowing report?

Very grateful I have the option of taking the T. With the school busses back on the roads it was horrendous this morning. I saw traffic backed up at lights farther than I have ever seen it backed up.  I saw a school bus almost get caught in a snow bank trying to take a corner. It was ugly out there. I have yet to see a really good media accounting of just how incredibly difficult it still is to move around this city. Nevermind the side streets that haven't been plowed at all - the main streets are still choked with snow.
