Power back in Scituate for all but a handful

Snowstorm had knocked out power to entire town

The power is back on for all but a handful of Scituate residents, officials said.

This morning, NStar’s outage map reported only six customers without power, while complete power was restored by midnight for National Grid’s customers in the town, according to a National Grid company representative at the Scituate Fire Department.

Scituate was hard-hit by power outages following this weekend’s winter storm. The town said Monday that about 60 percent of homes were still without power. One hundred thirty Scituate residents sought shelter, Governor Deval Patrick said in a press conference Monday.

At the storm’s height, more than 400,000 customers in Massachusetts were without power, Patrick said.

Statewide, National Grid reported 45 customers still without power, while NStar reported 4,888, according to the companies’ power outage map websites.
