Time tight to gather signatures for Senate race

Massachusetts candidates have rarely faced more major hurdles to get on a ballot than they do in the special US Senate race, where an abbreviated signature-gathering period, combined with rare midwinter timing, has created a one-two punch of obstacles.

Last weekend’s blizzard wiped out a critical window for signature collection, leaving candidates with little time to gather the 10,000 names needed to qualify for the primary ballot.

Go Gomez! You won't find any encouragement here at the Globe but out amongst the morally compassed, you're an early breath of spring!

Scott Brown showed us who he really is when he decided not to run for the senate seat. All of his posturing inducated that he was going to run. But Scott wasnt thinking about the consequences for his party  if he didnt run all he was thining about was Scott. The petty selfish Scott we saw attacking Warren emerged again as he gave his fellow republicans absolutely no time to gathen the signatures. Way to go Scotty!!

The Republican Party of Massachusetts is in shambles.  In large part because of Mitt Romney but Scott Brown just put the last nail in the coffin.  He could have least did his Party the favor and dropped out immediately so others would have had more time.  People complain that we are a one Party state but it's because the Republicans are making it easy.

From story: That has left growing concern, particularly within GOP ranks, that a major candidate could fail to meet the deadline.

If a candidate can't get 10,000 signatures, that, by definition, means he/she isn't a major candidate. From what I can see, none of the Republican candidates are. All the "major" ones have already dropped out.

if you see someone collecting signatures, please help them.  Stand with them for 5 minutes and help them by bringing registered voters over to sign the sheet.  its down to the wire.
