Ex-Chelsea housing chief will plead guilty, assist probe

Former Chelsea Housing Authority chief Michael E. McLaughlin has agreed to cooperate with federal investigators, according to documents filed in federal court Friday, potentially allowing him to avoid jail time for four alleged felonies if the information he provides implicates others.

In a plea agreement made public Friday, McLaughlin agreed to help authorities investigate and prosecute others, though it did not identify any potential targets.

Another day in Massachusetts, another prelude to a politically motivated crime! Will it ever stop?

So long as tjhe mindless voters keep electing 1 party, it will continue. Absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Bye, Timmy !!!!!! Wonder if Deville Deval is still all in ?

A better solution; make him live in one of the disgusting apartments that he was responsible for, as "Housing Chief".

Under house arrest.

Looks like he's going to get away with it - just a slap on the wrist.

Plea deals for McLaughlin on 4 major counts? He should go to jail. US Atty Carmen Ortiz goes after victims (and headlines) and lets the real crooks plead out. McLaughlin has been duping Mass. politicains for decades...on both sides of the aisle...he is a master at it. Murray, Baddour, Tisei...the list is endless...got duped by the artful dodger. Giving McLaughlin a deal which requires him to help Ortiz go after others just insures that McLaughlin will have to tell some very substantial lies to get himself off the hook...DO YOU REALLY THINK McLAUGHLIN WON'T LIE???  lol...he's made a career out of being a liar.

All Democrat politicians knew Mclaughlin was a scum-bag from way-way back, and that includes Tim Murray. However, McLaughlin was Murray's fund-raiser, so, he looked the other way.

State employees CANNOT raise political funds for politicians. This is a well known basic law, and one of many laws that McLaughlin ignored during his long employment within state government.

seems clear to me.....mclaughlin has the goods on someone really big and they know it but don't want us to know it. He'll give them a few small fish and go lay low for awhile. Then he'll resurface somewhere with another government job as pay back for keeping quiet. He can live awhile off of the hundreds of thousands of dollars he stole as inflated salary. It's chelsea mass....this is how it works.

Some kid does 10 years for selling weed and McLaughlin, who negatively impacted more people as a rogue Housing Chief, will do no time? It seems to me that sentencing guidelines need to be rewritten. Unless the penalties for committing "white collar crimes" are more commensurate to those for other crimes, with those found guilty doing time in big boy prison, not country club prisons, people will continue to commit these types of crimes. Where's the deterrant?

For Democrat card carriers there is no deterrant for breaking the law.

It is a disgrace if he does not 1) re-pay all stolen funds, not 400 or 4,000. 2) pay a hefty fine (confiscaate his properties if necessary, and 3) do some time. Didn't we send a black councilor away in boston for 3 years over a thousand bucks. This is really disgusting, the discrpancies and disparities. And yes, as someone pointed out, the jails are full of hapless kids doing time over a bag of weed while this guy is walking away.

You nailed it eaglezeye!

Another peek into the cesspool that is Democratic politicis in Massachusetts.

It will be interesting to follow this case, not only to see what happens to Mike, but to see who he implicates.

You know, with all of his experience in dealing with crime circling in the same orbit as himself, ya gotta agree, Deval would be a perfect replacement for Holder!

Such a predictable ongoing joke. Did the federal prosecutors remember to slip their resumes to Hoopes, for a cushy private sector gig ,during those tough bargaining sentences. Guess IRS, federal embezzlement and federal  campaign laws don't apply when you're a member of the public sector club. Much like their FBI brethren these guys couldn't crack an egg without informants and tips. What's more this gives Sal DiMasi new ammunition. Why is a one time theft of $57K worth 7 years and an ongoing criminal conspiracy for, if my math is correct. approximately $700K is a walk in the park?

What about his pension, back taxes and restitution? And who cares who else he fingers? He's the documented criminal here. Finally, lets not forget the take away  message for MA polls here. If you're gonna steal, steal big.

Once again the expensive joke is on us.

By the way how is that snail's pace  probation department "investigation" coming?

I have to get back to work now. I have a murder's sex change procedure to pay for.

He should go to jail, forfeit a boatload of money, and do some hard time. Trouble is, he's a stool pigeon on top of being a thief and a liar.

Rebel my butt.

From Wikipedia, "President Ronald Reagan nominated Wolf on March 8, 1985, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on April 3, 1985, and received his commission on April 4, 1985. Wolf served as chief judge for the District Court for the District of Massachusetts from 2006 to 2012. He took senior status on January 1, 2013."  The Wolf here is Judge Mark Wolf of the DeMasi and Kosolek trials.  Wolf, Republican appointee and Ortiz, Democratic appointee.  Both parties are involved in the various decisions that have become controversial.  It's the process that must be examined and confronted.  Aaron Swartz was threatened with more prison time and financial fines than this Tim Murray fund raiser, massively overpaid political thug.  McLaughlin needs to do both jail time and lose, lose, lose!!! that pension.  If those two are not on the table then Ortiz should do a longer investigation before going to trial to nail this slug.  You can't tell me that there is not a treasure trove of politically appointed underlings by McLaughlin and others who would sing like canaries if given Swartz-like threats.
