Public school officials said on Saturday that they are ready to implement new state guidelines that allow transgender students to use bathrooms and play on sports teams designated for their preferred genders, among other provisions.
The state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the guidelines on Friday, following passage of a Massachusetts law that took effect in July barring discrimination of transgender students in public schools.

"we need to respect every child"...well, at least every special interest child.
"Special interest child"?
Yes. The LGBT crowd is very much a special interest group.
This is decidedly different than ADA - where facilities could not be physically used/accessed by all. There mens and ladies rooms.
Ew.
RE: "Transgender students cannot be denied access to their preferred bathroom or locker room because of other students’ discomfort."
Proponents of transgender legislation swore that it would NOT open up women's bathrooms and locker rooms to biological males. Shame on liberal legislators who caved in to this big LIE.
Remember, the discomfort of a LGBT student is paramount. Other students (the majority) must be discomforted so that a PCC special interest gets their way.
Again, very different from something like ADA.
BTW, I'm in favor of marriage equality for gays and non-discrimination in employment and public services. But this opening up of bathrooms and locker rooms in CRAZY. Why should thousands of high school girls lose their right to privancy? The politically correct lunatics are running the asylum.

It absolutely amazing to me that the LBGT association gets every thing they ask for, from this left-wing legislature in Mass. Where else? They hell with heterosexuals rights, uncomfortableness, and protests. Out the door they go! Oh! That's equality! So They tell us! one-sided as usual! Everybody caves in because of so-called discrimination. The magic word of the left! Oh! of course not to mention the ludcrious lawsuits that will be coming soon in the future! God forbid somebody says something that not proper PC!! Even if it's an innocent remark with no malice intended, the LBGT policy police will be on your case!!! Did you ever think about how uncomfortable it will be young adults in the shower? What special priveledges do they have? Look! Who knows what the root cause is for Transgender problems, genetic or social, but to give every Tom, Dick and Harriet special status is reverse discrimination, which is one of the worst kind!!
So apparently the discomfort of the transgendered student trumps the discomfort of the non-transgendered? What a joke. It's not equal rights, it's additional rights for the minority. Sounds about right for Mass.
Wow a new level of stupid and I thought it was not possible. Well as long as the minority are comfortable at the expense of the majority.
No issue with a 12th grade male showering with 9th grade Girls. just give those girls some counseling and I'm sure nothing bad will happen.
ThankThank you for allowing all student their rights- LGBT folk have suffered enough- it is long overdue that this should happen.
You must be kidding.
This is about individual respect and high time this happened! I teach at a Boston Public High School. We have students from all over the world. We have students who are transgender. They have been using the bathroom and locker room of the gender they identify with way before the state guidelines were even entertained. The only people who voiced "concerns" were the adults new to the building. The kids really didn't care and there was NEVER an issue about it. Perhaps we should take a lesson from them.
Or perhaps we should give you a lie detector test.
What about the discomfort of students who may have to share a bathroom with someone of a different gender? This is why people develop a dislike for laws like these that may be intended to eliminate discrimination but the result is they discriminate against more people.
Mastermike said, "What about the discomfort of students who may have to share a bathroom with someone of a different gender?"
Those students who are uncomfortable are misinformed and need to be educated. They would be sharing the facilities with a person identifing with their gender. Let me put this in a different context. What if the Somali girls were uncomfortable sharing the bathroom with the Latino girls would it be a problem for you?
No, but if the Latino "girls" had male genitals, I'd be very uncomfortable.
