Markey criticized over fund-raiser with Spitzer

The state Republican Party called on US Representative Edward J. Markey Tuesday to cancel a fund-raiser next month for his Senate campaign cohosted by former New York governor Eliot Spitzer.

The invitation, obtained by Politico, lists Spitzer and his wife among six couples and one individual cohosting the March 13 event. It is being held in the Washington home of Emily Spitzer, the former governor’s sister, according to Politico, and her husband. Guests are asked to donate $500 to $5,000.

The GOP is reduced to grasping at straws. It's the party of no ideas -- so they have to resort to this.

Markey is just a magnet to trouble. Before you attack me, Skippy, I am a Democrat and am embaressed by this guy.

Here is a link to Mr. Spitzer's side of the story. He was a competent Attorney General who stepped in when the Justice Department did not. http://www.slate.com/blogs/spitzer/2012/08/20/the_architects_of_the_financial_crisis_are_trying_to_rewrite_history_.html While his personal habits wouldn't be tolerated in my family, I truly feel they are none of anyone's business. As for the Republicans, he who is without sin cast the first stone.

How embarassing is this Markey clown.. his office is a few blocks from my house, which means I've never seen him in person! It's telling that Democrats consider womanizing philandering New York politicians and their $5,000 a plate Washington elite friends not to be "outside groups", but regular citizens pooling their money to be heard above the din of the Obama machine are. Not surprising Lynch and Markey signed the "pledge", they know they will outfundraise any Republicans thanks to low-information, deep pocketed unions, and because if there is one thing modern Democrats can agree upon, its limitting free speech. I am an independent, if a credible Democrat ever resurfaces in this state, I'll vote for him/her, until then, looks like the GOP is the only option for non-union working class voters.
