A three-car crash involving a tanker truck tangled traffic on Route 128 in Needham just before 9:30 this morning, State Police said.

The 18-wheel truck carrying milk sustained damage to its side gas tank, causing four gallons of fuel to leak onto the roadway, police said. Needham firefighters called environmental authorities to assess the spilled fuel.

Thanks to the accident, northbound traffic on the highway slowed to a crawl south of Highland Avenue to the East Street Rotary just after 9:30 this morning.
