HAVERHILL — A Haverhill High School senior has been ordered held without bail in what police are calling a gang-related machete attack on two others at a party.
Joan Manuel Mendez-
Sanchez pleaded not guilty Tuesday to attempted murder and assault charges.
School officials said Mendez-Sanchez, 19, has been barred from school pending a resolution of his case.
The Eagle-Tribune newspaper reported a fight broke out at the party Friday night when a teenager became jealous when Mendez-Sanchez was dancing with his girlfriend. Witnesses said that Mendez-Sanchez had not been invited.
Witnesses told police that Mendez-Sanchez had injured two people who went to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening wounds.
Mendez-Sanchez denied injuring the victims.
