Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley, whose name is floating as a possible candidate for pope, said his last Mass on Friday before he heads to Rome to attend the resignation ceremony of Pope Benedict XVI and participate in the conclave that will decide who takes the helm of the 1.2-billion strong Roman Catholic Church.
“In these days, there will be endless speculation about candidates and outcomes,” O’Malley, the archbishop of Boston, told about 200 parishioners at the pastoral center in Braintree. “I assure you no cardinal goes into the conclave with the ambition of being chosen for this overwhelming responsibility.”

Cardinal O'Malley...serious question for you...Do you believe you are an "alter Christus", i.e. another Christ, here on Earth, by virtue of your ordination to the priesthood in the Catholic Church? Simple yes or no answer please. Thank you.
And I guess a good follow up question might be, if your answer is yes, why do you feel it is necessary to dress like you do, with ornate, embroided robes and hats, when Jesus never dressed like that? In fact, I don't think he had a pointed hat of any kind/color in his entire wardrobe, yet you guys seem very taken with hats of all designs, and seem to favor tall and pointed ones. Is your dress to convey a majesty on the outside that maybe doesn't really exist on the inside, like Jesus had (in other words, you may not actually BE another Christ, but only trying to act like you are?)?

“I assure you no cardinal goes into the conclave with the ambition of being chosen for this overwhelming responsibility.” BS - there is a long, sordid history of cardinals "running" for the papacy. Someday the world will come to grips with the utter fantasy of the entire religious movement.
The same old negative posters should realize they have no credibility and continue to make fools of themselves. They should post their true reason for ranting against religion. They want no moral rules. End of story. Ignore them.

I remember as a kid under the loving and dedicated St. Joseph's nuns being told not to read the New Testament for fear we may come up with our own interpretation of it. When I got into my twenties and finally reached the age of some kind of reason, I realized that "ecclesia," the word in the New Testament, does not mean "Church, " but "assembly." What Christ allegedly instituted was an assembly of followers, not a Church as we know it today.
As for his simplicity of life, remember how simple it was: "The foxes have their dens but the Son of Man has not whereon to lay his head." This life style is in stark contrast to the life style of the Pope, who lives in a plush apartment and has his own butler.
The Church, (but God love the devoted nuns and good priests deludedly but sincerely devoted to religious fraud) is a two thousand year old lie and distrraction from what is true religion. It has nothing to do with buildings, priests, nuns, religious orders, you name it. Christ said, "When you pray go up to thy room and pray in secret." Also, "When you pray, do not multiply words." We know God or experience the Holy Spirit in our private silence, not in vocal prayer inside a building. But, believe me, the ignorance will continue for another thousand or more years since ingorance is more popular than truth.
