Police are investigating a two-car crash on Route 4 in Durham, N.H., that left a 74-year-old man dead and two 22-year-old men seriously injured.
According to Durham authorities, a 22-year-old man driving a 2004 Chrysler was passing the car in front of him when he collided head-on with the 2000 Buick driven by the 74-year-old man, whose identity and residence is being held pending family notification.
Durham Deputy Police Chief Rene Kelley said the older man was dead when officers arrived on the scene.
The 22-year-old driver was airlifted to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, while his passenger, another 22-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire. Kelley said there were no further details on their injuries.
Authorities are investigating whether the Chrysler’s driver was passing legally before he struck the Buick.
