Boston-area property landlord settles lead paint suit

A Boston-area property owner accused of retaliatory practices against tenants with young children has settled the case and will pay $75,000 and remove lead from three rental units in Arlington.

Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office announced the settlement with Keith L. Miller of Newton on Wednesday after the agreement was entered in Suffolk Superior Court.

Maybe it's time to change those lead paint laws...just because one tenant has a baby doesn't mean the landlord can afford to remove lead paint.  Property ownership costs are spiraling and you are not allowed to pass these costs onto tenants...and property owner's kids can live in homes with lead, so it seems unfair to have to delead an apartment for a tenant who knew when they moved in that the apartment was not deleaded. Glad I didn't buy a rental...

The laws are ridiculous. The nanny state continues.

This guy gives landlords a bad name. Forget the lead situation, he just runs roughshod the tenants in general.
