Simply amazing.

You simply cannot make this stuff up.

Sounds like a great nomination. She will do a great job!

What a joke!  How much will that cost her?

Well, Caroline's extended family does include an aunt who played at diplomacy at the U.S. Embassy in Ireland. . . As for this speculated pipedream, the best way to describe Barry the Obama on this issue is:  Bakatari desu.

To me, not speaking Japanese should be a deal-breaker. But aside from that, she'd be a great ambassador, a fine reprensative of the United States. The Ambassador is a ceremonial position, all of the real work is done by State Dept professionals, in the field or back in Foggy Bottom. The days of Embassy personnel sending telegrams back to Washington, waiting days for a specific response, those days are long, long gone. I'd rather she represent the American people to Japan rather than some old political hack.
