A federal magistrate judge in Boston agreed to grant bail for the Massachusetts student who is accused of attempted murder at a prestigious university in Scotland. US Magistrate Judge Jennifer C. Boal agreed to set $100,000 bail for Alexander Hilton, 21, of Princeton, who is accused of trying to poison a student at Scotland’s St. Andrews University by spiking his bottle of red wine with methanol. Hilton is fighting extradition to Scotland, and Boal’s decision allows him to remain free on bail pending those proceedings. A hearing to set the bail is scheduled for Tuesday.
