Twenty-one Quincy police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after letting their gun permits expire, according to an official in the Police Department.
The official, who would only speak on the condition of anonymity, said a random search found that the Quincy officers had not renewed their permits.

Wow - plenty of personnel? How was Quincy able to overstaff so much - do taxpayer have a say in this?
This article doesn't mention the cost of the gun permits and who is responsible for paying this cost. why is there no penalty for letting it lapse such as unpaid administrative leave. There is a lot missing from this story.
Any one of these cops could have anger management problems, personality problems etc. that would preclude them from getting a permit, and the mayor says its an administrative problem. Two sets of law, one for you and one for the cops.
Um, they let their permits expire, so the punishment is a paid vacation? Awesome! At least make them use their vacation days...
