A top state education official has stepped down from her position amid questions over her enrollment in a program that trains school superintendents.
Sherri Killins, commissioner of the state Department of Early Education and Care, resigned Monday, said Matthew Wilder, a spokesman for the state agency that oversees the department, in an e-mail early Tuesday.

A double-dipping blow-in from out of state exits stage left.
another Deval appointee bites the dust - when do we hold him accountable for these choices?
Government employees who are hired for positions in this state have absolutely nothing to do with education, skills and/or qualifications. Although, HRS always go through the interviewing process. *It is known as,"Must Hires.' A term that is common in MA state government.
Simple solution: DON'T vote Democrat. State bureacracy consists of Democrat hires, that are nothing more than "Must Hire" appointments. The work-force consists of unqualified political hacks who have lost elections and can't get reelected, and people with political connections.
So why does the Herald have to do these stories - is the Globe that much in the Govenor's Court ?
I agree, I have yet to read about the massive welfare fraud in the Globe. Thank God we are a two newspaper town!
Another affirmative action success story unwritten by Erkel, King of Affirmative Action.
Not to worry. After this dolt completes her Supt's internship, she'll be ready to take over this summer in boston when Dr. Johnson leaves. Of course she will require a salary of $350,000 per year. The beat goes on.
Keep on voting 'Democrat' for more of the same:
"Patronage & Nepotism," is the name of the Democrat HRS department.
A phone number in New Haven? Is that one of Massachusetts' 351 cities and towns? Or did the Globe's young reportorial staff just forget to identify the state where this used-to-be Deville Deval appointee lives? Smells garlicky to me.
Leave it to that upstart, not ready for prime time, "rag" the Herald to once again show up the Globe by breaking this story. Here's a tip - no one has really exposed the whole story on Fast and Furious or that other Globe non-story Benghazi. Maybe you can still redeem yourselves before the lights go out.
I'll tell you, I toggle back and forth between the Herald and the Globe to check out story placement and depth of reporting; this story was page one with the tab and burried deep with the broadsheet. Things that make you go hhmmmmm ...
The Herald was reporting the Sherri Killins fiasco last week, and local television reported her resignation yesterday. This morning the Globe decided to print details about Commissioner Killins. Very slow uptake, but everyone knows the Globe is MA state's DEMOCRAT rag.
I'm very impressed with the commenters thus far. Are all the Deval appologists at a special breakfast or something? Oh that's right, they're gathering for the "Please tax me back to the stone age" rally.
Nice that the Globe is finally getting around to reporting the latest Patrick adminstration mess. This is exactly why people do not trust this adminstration to oversee precious taxpayer dollars. Pubkic trust erodes with each episode despite talk of "investing, blah, blah....
Today's Globe BRAGS on the front page that the state saves money by insisting that taxpayers use electronic mail. Globe wants readers to think that Deval actually tries to save the state money. Just this incident is more money than what the state saves by the electronic taxreturns.
