Boston Globe columnist Kevin Cullen has received the prestigious Batten Medal of the American Society of News Editors for his “inspiring story telling” and commitment to ordinary people.
Cullen, who also won the award in 2008, is the only person to have won it twice, the society said Tuesday.

Your career has reached such extraordinary heights, and with your recent book, it seems like it's just the beginning of a new phase in your professional life. I enjoyed listening to your book discussion on "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross. I hope significant others who manage broadcast journalism also heard you on that day because it should be another part of your career. The broadcast news media sorely needs quality journalists like you and I hope you get scooped. You deserve all that is good that comes your way Kevin and I wish you the very best.
