They called him Bac Guai, or “White Devil John,” and he was their enforcer.
John Willis was a white man from Dorchester, yet, according to court records, he quietly emerged as a leader among Chinatown’s Asian gangs, historically known for insulating themselves from outsiders.

Fascinating. Someone needs to make a documentary about this guy.
Someone needs to report the realities in Chinatown -- actually Boston generally -- concerning those to whom the protections of the law do not reach, but to whom the penalties do.
That someone isn't the "Boston Globe": there is a class beneath that of the "Globe" to which the "Globe" will not give voice. If one is important, and caught in scandal, the "Globe" will report it. But if a victim of the scandal, the "Globe" will not report it. Nor will it be prosecuted. Nor will the "Globe" report the non-prosecution.
