Governor Lincoln Chafee is highlighting research to help those afflicted by brain injuries. The governor was scheduled to meet Friday with brain damage survivors, their families, and researchers looking for new ways to help treat neurological injuries. During the event at the State House, Chafee will also present an award to Frank Montanaro, a former state lawmaker who has advocated for new and better therapies for brain injury survivors. According to the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island, nearly 6,600 state residents suffer some type of brain injury each year.
