Statement from Edward Tutunjian

Edward J. Tutunjian sent this statement to The Boston Globe on March 21, 2013, in lieu of responding to additional questions from the Spotlight Team.

Boston Cab Dispatch has been dispatching taxicabs that serve the people of Boston for more than 25 years. Similarly, EJT Management has been managing the leasing of taxicabs to drivers for more than 25 years. When Bostonians need to get to the doctor, the airport, their workplace, or the grocery store, they call Boston Cab Dispatch, which dispatches a brown and white cab to get them where they need to go safely and reliably. The taxicabs leased through EJT, and those dispatched by Boston Cab Dispatch, provide more than 5 million rides each year and serve as an important part of Boston’s transportation infrastructure. For more than 25 years of operation, Boston Cab Dispatch and EJT Management have worked within the rules established by the City of Boston’s hackney division and have never been sanctioned or fined for a violation of those rules. We are proud of our companies, the drivers who lease taxicabs managed by EJT, and the service provided to our many loyal customers and the people of Boston.

Sincerely,

Edward J. Tutunjian
