Store near Savin Hill stabbing gives away free ice cream

Kindness came in a variety of flavors Wednesday afternoon in Dorchester’s Savin Hill neighborhood — two free scoops of ice cream to bring together a community shaken by the bloody ambush Monday of a young mother out walking her baby in a stroller.

“It’s good to see people come out, be here, and support each other,” said Joe Conway, owner of Savin Scoop on Savin Hill Avenue. Conway and his store manager scooped maple walnut, monster mash, and other flavors for about 70 people.
