Vermont’s federal prosecutors said a Massachusetts man is facing heroin distribution charges after he was arrested for allegedly selling 45 grams of heroin outside a White River Junction restaurant. Court records said that Chandara Sam, 30, was arrested Wednesday after selling the drugs to a person working with law enforcement. The records said Sam is a member of a larger group that has been distributing an especially strong form of heroin in the Burlington area since 2011. After Sam’s arrest in Vermont, police in Massachusetts said they searched his Lowell home and recovered 30 more grams of heroin, $40,000 to $50,000 in cash, a handgun, ammunition, and digital scales.
