After a dismal season last year, a Vermont ski area run by volunteers has bounced back with thousands of visits and much-needed revenue to help with repairs. Members of Living Memorial Park Snow Sports Inc. in Brattleboro say they need more than $10,000 to make repairs and a new storage building. They stressed the need for community support. The ski area opened in 1938 and operates on town land, but the town stopped operating the slope in 1995 due to economic issues. The nonprofit Living Memorial Park Snow Sports stepped in a few years later and has been running the business since.
