Developer pitches $200m hotel, slot parlor in Boxborough

BOXBOROUGH — A Maryland casino developer is pitching a $200 million hotel and slot parlor just off Interstate 495 in Boxborough, the final of 11 original commercial casino applicants to find a site.

Under the proposal, the Cordish Companies would buy, renovate, and expand an existing Holiday Inn at the junction of Route 111 and Interstate 495, and rebrand the property as a boutique hotel and casino, Joe Weinberg, Cordish managing partner, said Tuesday in a phone interview with the Globe. Part of the existing building would be demolished and replaced on a 20-acre parcel that is essentially surrounded by woods.
