R.I. governor says workforce diversity needed

Governor Lincoln Chafee issued an executive order Thursday that he said will increase the number of members of minority groups working in state government. Chafee, an independent, said it is important for the state workforce to reflect Rhode ­Island’s changing demographics. While minority groups now make up nearly a quarter of the state’s population, their members hold only 15 percent of state jobs.
