The St. Johnsbury School Board is considering making students in the Vermont town attend school on the Martin Luther King Day holiday in January. School director Tony Greenwood said the school does not get days off for presidents such as Abraham Lincoln. Greenwood said he has ‘‘no beef with Martin Luther King.’’ The district needs to ensure that snow days can be made up, and the school does not need another day off, he said. School director Richard Boisseau said he supports school attendance on King Day, saying the day should be used to raise children’s awareness of King and his efforts to bring about racial equality.
