Participants gathered at Town Field Park in Fields Corner in Dorchester Sunday morning for the 17th Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace.
Lila Bucklin, of Jamaica Plain, held a sign during the walk in support of her friend Ruthie Rollins, who lost her son, Warren Daniel Hairston, in 2007.
Karen Murphy, of Easton, at right, participated in the walk. Murphy’s 20-year-old son, Robbie Murphy, was killed in Mashpee in 2011.
Jeremiah Hall, 5 months, hitched a rainy ride on mother Jenny Hall’s shoulder. They’re both from Dorchester.
Purple ribbons symbolized peace during the event.
