Two people were shot this afternoon on Michigan Avenue in Dorchester, police said.
A Boston police spokesman confirmed that a male and a female were shot at about 4:20 p.m. He said at least one of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. He had no further information about the victims.
At about 5:15 p.m., police were keeping pedestrians and reporters several hundred yards from the scene, which was located near a small public park.
A couple who had been speaking with police at the scene declined to comment as they left the area, while pushing a child in a stroller.
A teenager who lives near the scene, who did not want his name printed, said, ““That street’s trouble. ... Kids around here [are] roaming around the streets and stuff and causing trouble.”
His mother, who declined to give her name to a reporter, echoed her son’s comments about Michigan Avenue.
“I know that’s a bad street,” she said.
