Police said a dispute between neighbors over a television remote control turned violent. The Woonsocket Call reported that Stanislaw Okruta, 78, and his downstairs neighbor, Julien Stroz, 61, told police they had been drinking for hours in Okruta’s apartment Sunday before they started arguing over the remote. The older man told his neighbor to get out. Police said Stroz went downstairs and got a large knife, then went back upstairs and got into a fight with Okruta. Stroz said Okruta took the knife from him and started stabbing him. Police said he was treated at Rhode Island Hospital for wounds to his head, arm, and torso. Detective Sergeant Matt Ryan said Stroz declined to file a complaint.
