Bill Walczak 8th to qualify for Boston mayoral ballot

Bill Walczak, a longtime community organizer, became the eighth Boston mayoral candidate to qualify for the ballot Monday when election officials verified that he had submitted signatures from at least 3,000 registered voters. Seven other candidates have had enough signatures tallied to make the ballot in the Sept. 24 preliminary election: state Representative Martin J. Walsh; Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley; Councilors John R. Connolly, Felix G. Arroyo, Rob Consalvo, and Charles C. Yancey; and John F. Barros. Election officials continue to count signatures on nomination papers for five other potential candidates.
