Man shot by police facing multiple charges

A New Hampshire man shot by police after a chase in Manchester is facing several charges. Christopher Varagianis of Pembroke was shot twice in the leg Monday night and was hospitalized. EMTs responded to the Seven Days Market for a report of a possible heart attack, according to court papers. The EMTs saw Varagianis sitting in a Jeep and said it appeared he needed attention. But they said Varagianis drove off. Police followed and said that during the chase, Varagianis nearly struck bystanders with the Jeep. Police said they shot at him when he drove toward them. Varagianis, 37, is faces charges including assault and reckless conduct.
