To many, Bulger trial is the biggest show in town

Opening statements were made in the long-awaited murder and racketeering trial of James “Whitey” Bulger on Wednesday. Bulger faces a 32-count indictment in US District Court in Boston, including allegations that he participated in 19 murders during a deadly reign of terror in the city’s underworld while he was protected because of his status as an FBI informant. The 83-year-old Bulger was captured in California in 2011 after more than 16 years of eluding a worldwide manhunt.
