South Boston man shot by police arraigned at BMC

A South Boston man shot by police after allegedly pointing a pellet gun at officers and state troopers pleaded not guilty to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon from his hospital bed Friday.

South Boston District Court Judge Michael Bolden ordered Kenneth Connelly, 53, held on $750 bail and imposed weekly probation check-ins and a mental health evaluation. Connelly was arraigned from his bed at Boston Medical Center, where he has been hospitalized since being shot Wednesday night in the confrontation with Boston police and state troopers.
