At about 12:49 p.m., officers responded to 88 Wellington Hill St. and found the man with gunshot wounds, according to the Boston police website. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, in a heavily residential area.

Police are looking for a light green compact SUV, with part of the Massachusetts plate reading 875, the online statement said.

Asia Williams, 23, who has lived in the neighborhood for six years, described it as quiet with a strong sense of community.

Area resident Herbert Glover, who was walking his Pomeranian down nearby Duke Street late Saturday afternoon, said news of the shooting shocked him. “We get loud music from cookouts, but that’s all,” he said.

Earlier Saturday, police responded to another shooting on McGreevey Way in Roxbury. They found a man in his 20s with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 617-343-4470.
