Patrick Barry, 21, pleaded not guilty Monday in Roxbury District Court.

A Northeastern University student accused of sexually assaulting a woman at knifepoint in the Mission Hill neighborhood Saturday was facing charges in a second assault that occurred less than an hour later, prosecutors said.

Patrick Barry, 21, will be arraigned on charges of assault with intent to rape in West Roxbury District Court Wednesday in connection with the second attack. Both assaults occurred early Saturday morning near Huntington Avenue, within a mile of Barry’s apartment, Boston police said.

Barry pleaded not guilty at an arraignment Monday in Roxbury District Court, where he faced charges of assault with intent to rape, armed robbery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

In both attacks, the victims were grabbed from behind and threatened, at knife point, with rape, police said.

In the first assault, at 2 a.m. Saturday, a woman was dragged from Huntington Avenue to Vancouver Street. The assailant stole her purse and cellphone and began cutting off her clothes, police said. The woman screamed and was able to escape.

In the second attack, a woman was grabbed from behind near the corner of Huntington and Parker Hill avenues and stabbed in the hand before she escaped.

Surveillance video and witness testimony linked Barry to both assaults, police said. He is being held on $30,000 cash bail.
