Man drowns in Yarmouth’s Flax Pond Recreation Area

A man was found dead Tuesday morning at South Yarmouth’s Flax Pond Recreation Area, officials said. Lifeguards and pond administrators pulled the body from the water and secured the area, removing all children, Yarmouth police said in a statement. Police and firefighters responded at 10:51 a.m. and found that the man appeared to have drowned. Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael D. O’Keefe said there were no indications of foul play. “It’s an unfortunate incident and police are reviewing the matter,” O’Keefe said. The waterfront was closed for the remainder of Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday while officers investigate, police said.
