Police say an unidentified man who stopped in the breakdown lane of Interstate 93 to change a flat tire was killed by another driver. Police said the man and two passengers were removing the spare tire from the trunk at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, and had stopped on southbound I-93 near Exit 3. A car driven by Pauline Kochniec, 47, of Berlin, struck the car, which then struck the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Kochniec was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester and was later charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.
