A 51-year-old Wareham man was in critical condition Monday after nearly drowning in Muddy Cove in Onset, police said. When Wareham police and emergency medical services, Onset fire, and the Wareham harbormaster department responded at 1 p.m., they discovered two women attempting to hold Dennis Maxim above water, police Lieutenant Kevin Walsh said. Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures on Maxim, who was unresponsive, Walsh said. After being transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, he was later flown by a MedFlight helicopter to a Boston Hospital for further treatment, police said.
